Have you been a patient at Ruby Ward in Medway, or care for someone who has?
If you, or someone you know, has been a patient on Ruby Ward in the past two years, the NHS would love to hear from you.
Conversations are underway about replacing Ruby Ward with a new facility which will be based in Maidstone. However, they need to understand what your experience was like and what is important to you to help them design a service that works for everyone.
What is Ruby Ward?
Ruby Ward is the last remaining mental health dormitory ward in Kent and Medway. It's a ward within Medway Maritime hospital and provides care for women who are experiencing acute functional mental health difficulties and need a hospital bed for a limited period. Some patients (who come from across Kent & Medway) may be frail and also have other conditions, such as dementia.
What are the plans?
Conversations have started about building a new facility in Maidstone which would offer 16 ensuite bedrooms. However, organisers need to hear what you think, and what you would want to see from any new service.
So if you, or someone you know, has used Ruby Ward in the past two years then get in touch and share your story. Email kmpt.engagement@nhs.net to express your interest. They'd like to chat to you on the phone about your experience.
If you'd rather chat directly to us, then that's fine too. We can anonymise your story and pass it on. Call us anytime on 0800 136 656 or us your story here.
