Do you have your dream job yet?
It can be confusing to know what to do next and what the right step is, but you're not on your own : there are plenty of resources and advice available to help you make the right decision.
Have you considered an apprenticeship?
One of the ways to get into the world of work, and gain a useful education and qualification at the same time, is to become an apprentice. An apprenticeship is a great paid work opportunity where the employee learns and gains valuable experiences. Alongside on the job training, apprentices spend at least 20% of their working hours in a classroom with a college, university or training provider. It will ultimately lead to a nationally recognised qualification.
We have an apprentice working with us right now. Hazel is completing a Business Administration Level 3 qualification, and described her apprenticeship as ‘giving me the opportunity to work within a sector I’m passionate about, while I learn things ‘on the ground’ to back up and expand my knowledge. It’s helping me to build my confidence again.’
Want to be your own boss?
If you’ve ever wanted to own your own business, and be your own boss, an entrepreneurship could be for you. An entrepreneur is someone who starts their own company or business, trying to make a profit or a big difference in the world.
There is local support available for those wanting to be an entrepreneur, such as:
- Kent Foundation for young entrepreneurs: https://www.kentfoundation.org/
- Princes Trust: https://www.princes-trust.org.uk/
Make your CV stand out from the crowd
When you're applying for a job, it can be hard to get the attention of potential employers. What makes your CV stand out from all the others?
Volunteering and work experience are both great ways to gain valuable experience and look great on any job application. We have several young people volunteering with us right now while also job hunting. Volunteering is flexible so you can work it around interviews too.
