Did you know today is Dignity Action Day?

Dignity is precious. It is especially important when we are feeling more vulnerable such as when we are in hospital, being looked after at home or living in a care home.

So, take a moment today and think about how important it is to have choice, control and a sense of purpose.

Here at Healthwatch Medway, we’re taking time to consider how easy it is for people to feel that their dignity is being compromised and what we can do to protect people.

Talking about Dignity Action Day, Dame Joan Bakewell said,

"Dignity Action Day highlights a more respectful way of behaving towards vulnerable people. The very old and the very young clearly need our respect, but it wouldn't do any harm to spread the dignity message across the population then we can all benefit."

We couldn’t agree more, which is why we are supporting Dignity Action Day.

Let us know if you think someone isn’t being treated with respect and dignity right now. Get in touch. We can help remind NHS and social care staff that everyone has a right to being treated with dignity.
