Medway Hospital in the news

The Care Quality Commission published a report following a recent unannounced visit to the emergency department at Medway Maritime Hospital. Although they found many positives, they’ve asked the hospital to make a number of immediate changes.
medway hospital rated inadequate

The CQC asked the hospital to make immediate changes. Improvements already made include:

  • Reducing the number of people waiting in an ambulance
  • Ensuring patients are identified quicker if they appear to be getting worse, particularly those people who are waiting in ambulances
  • Opening 20 more beds so that people don’t have to wait to so long to be admitted

The Care Quality Commission rated the Emergency Department as inadequate although good for being effective and caring.

We'd encourage everyone who has been a patient at Medway Maritime recently to get in touch and tell us their story. The good stories are just as important as the not so good.
